The T3 Bankstown Line carried Sydney commuters for more than 130 years before closing in September 2024 for its conversion to metro standards. Eleven stations between Sydenham and Bankstown are being rebuilt for driverless trains, with platform screen doors, level boarding and lifts across 13 kilometres of corridor. Once services begin, a train will arrive every four minutes in the peak.
Platforms in a live rail corridor are an unforgiving place to put anything. Ducting installed there has to carry load, shed water and stay electrically inert around traction power. Arcadis approached ECD in late 2024 to solve it.

Arcadis brought ECD in after earlier work together on Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project and MYKI, this time to develop external platform ducting for the John Holland and Laing O’Rourke delivery team.
